CMT's hit show, Gone Country, is now filming it's third season and there's yet another former American Idol hoping to put down some country roots. This time it's American Idol runner up from the first season, Justin Guarini. Other contestants for Gone Country 3 include musicians George Clinton and Sheila E., former Miss USA Tara Conner, singer Taylor Dayne, Monkees lead vocalist/drummer Micky Dolenz, and actor Richard Grieco.
Other American Idol contestants, including Diana DeGarmo and Mikalah Gordon, have taken their turn in the country competition, but haven't been successful in winning the show. With Gone Country's host, John Rich's alleged dislike for American Idol, one might wonder if any previous American Idol contestant would truly stand a chance on Gone Country.
Justin Guarini was a huge fan favorite on American Idol and most likely will be in this singing competition as well. On Gone Country, the contestants have two weeks to come up with a new country song and hope it's good enough to impress John Rich---ultimately it's up to him who wins. The winner's song will be released on country radio.
Gone Country 3 is expected to premiere in January on CMT.
